چکیده

Background Specific IgE to Ara h 2 as clinical predictor for peanut allergy in children has a diagnostic value comparable to a recently published prediction model containing gender, skin prick test (SPT), specific IgE (sIgE) to peanut extract and total IgE. The need for food challenges could be reduced by implicating both methods. In adults, the diagnostic value of peanut components has not been studied yet. Our aim was to validate in an adult population the published prediction model and in case of poor validation, build a new model specific for adults. In addition, to define the diagnostic value of sIgE to peanut components and their correlation to clinical severity.

Utility of Specific IgE to Ara h 2 in Italian Allergic and Tolerant Children Sensitized to Peanut

Emerging data suggest that measurement of serum IgE to peanut components can be clinically helpful and more accurate than IgE to whole peanut to predict peanut allergy. Not all studies have used prospective samples, multiple components and oral challenges. Currently, there are no data on this topic involving Italian children. 32 patients (23 males; median age 9 years) with reported history for ...

Clinical value of component-resolved diagnostics in peanut-allergic patients.

INTRODUCTION As replacement for the oral food challenge, decision-points for sensitization test have been established, but suboptimal sensitivity and/or specificity, as well as regional differences, have reduced the clinical usability. IgE toward specific peanut protein components has been reported to be of value, but data on correlation with clinical data are sparse. Our aim was to correlate I...

IgE cross-reactivity between the major peanut allergen Ara h 2 and the non-homologous allergens Ara h 1 and Ara h 3

BACKGROUND Ara h 1, a vicilin; Ara h 2, a 2S albumin; and Ara h 3, a legumin, are major peanut allergens. Ara h 2 is an important predictor of clinical reactivity to peanut, but cosensitization to all 3 allergens is correlated with the severity of patients' symptoms. OBJECTIVE We investigated whether cosensitization to these 3 allergens is caused by IgE cross-reactivity, despite the fact that...

Peanut sensitization pattern in Norwegian children and adults with specific IgE to peanut show age related differences

BACKGROUND Peanuts contain potent food allergens and the prevalence of allergy is reported to increase, especially in children. Since peanut sensitization may differ between different geographical regions, we wanted to investigate the sensitization pattern to the individual peanut allergens in a Norwegian population. METHODS Cases reported to the Norwegian Food Allergy Register with sera posi...

The diagnostic value of component-resolved diagnostics in peanut allergy in children attending a Regional Paediatric Allergology Clinic

BACKGROUND To date, diagnosing food allergies in children still presents a diagnostic dilemma, leading to uncertainty concerning the definite diagnosis of peanut allergy, as well as to the need for strict diets and the potential need for adrenalin auto-injectors. This uncertainty in particular is thought to contribute to a lower quality of life. In the diagnostic process double-blind food chall...
